Game Overview

Donald Duck goes full Indiana Jones in this weirdly cool SNES platformer where he’s a detective named Maui Mallard hunting down a stolen idol. The twist? He can flip into a ninja alter-ego by collecting these yin-yang coins scattered around—which is good, because half the enemies look like they crawled out of a voodoo nightmare.

Regular Maui packs a bug gun (yes, you shoot literal insects) that gets surprisingly tactical—mix fire and lightning bugs for bigger explosions. But Ninja Maui is where it gets fun: wall-jumping with a staff, swinging from duck-head carvings (don’t ask), and just generally feeling way more agile. The catch? You’re always scrambling for more coins to stay in ninja mode, so it’s this fun back-and-forth between playstyles. The levels get pretty creative too, with traps and secrets that actually make the switching mechanic matter.

It’s one of those Disney games that’s way darker and more interesting than it had any right to be.
