Dragon Booster on the DS is one of those games that makes you wish you had a real dragon. You start off picking your scaly companion—I went with the blue one because, well, it looked fast—and suddenly you're racing through these wild fantasy tracks, dodging fireballs and trying not to faceplant into ancient ruins.

The battles are surprisingly tactical for a handheld game. You can't just mash buttons; timing your boosts and attacks actually matters, especially when you're up against those smug AI riders who always seem to have a perfect counter. And yeah, the story's cheesy in that early-2000s way, but I’ll admit I got weirdly invested in my dragon’s bond meter filling up.

It’s not perfect—some of the later races feel like the game’s just messing with you—but when you nail a tight corner and your dragon lets out this triumphant roar? Worth it.
