So Dragon Fighter on NES is this weird little gem where you play as a sword guy who can—you guessed it—turn into a dragon. At first it feels like a pretty standard side-scroller: you're slashing enemies, jumping over pits, and charging up your sword for the occasional magic blast. But then you hit that transform button and boom—suddenly you're a fire-breathing dragon tearing through the screen in full shoot-'em-up mode. The shift in gameplay is jarring in the best way possible.

There's a catch though—you can't stay a dragon forever. A meter drains while you're transformed, so you've gotta pick your moments. The levels mix things up nicely—icy cliffs, creepy caves, even some weird factory zone—but the real payoff is the final level where they just let you go full dragon with no restrictions. Feels like the devs knew exactly what players really wanted.
