Dragon Fighter Disk1 came out for the Amiga in 1991 from Idea Software. It was one of those vertical shooters that showed up during the platform's peak, offering a straightforward arcade challenge without much pretense. You controlled a dragon, not a spaceship, which already set it apart from a lot of the genre at the time.

You guide the dragon through one hundred vertically scrolling levels, constantly fighting against gravity. The dragon drifts downward unless you counter-steer upward to keep it aloft. Enemy fire comes from all directions, and since you only have one life, dodging is essential. Between stages, you visit one of twenty-five towns to spend collected gold on upgrades for your firepower or health. The game demands precision and rewards persistence with gradual improvement. It feels tense and deliberate, a constant battle against descent and incoming threats.
