The 16-bit glow-up gives everything this warm, storybook look, and battles feel snappier than the NES original.

What really hooked me was how the world changes when the sun goes down. Shopkeepers go home, tougher monsters appear, and some quests only trigger at night. There’s even a silly monster arena where you can waste all your gold betting on slime fights. And if you’ve played the first two Dragon Quest games? The way this ties into them legit gave me chills when I first saw the connections. Classic RPG comfort food, but with enough little surprises to keep it fresh.
