Dragon’s Lair on Game Boy is like someone took the arcade cabinet, shook it really hard, and squeezed all the chaos into a tiny cartridge. You’re still Dirk the Daring, still flailing your way through traps and monsters to save the princess—but now you’re doing it on a bus ride or under the covers with a flashlight. The animation’s simpler, sure, but the tension’s all there: one wrong move and you’re toast, just like the original.

It’s weirdly satisfying how they translated those quick-time events into something that works on a d-pad. You’ll memorize patterns, die a lot, and eventually feel like a genius when you nail a tricky jump or dodge a skeleton’s sword. Not gonna lie, the first time I beat Singe, I pumped my fist so hard I almost dropped my Game Boy. If you’ve got nostalgia for the arcade or just love punishingly fair retro games, this one’s a gem.
