Dragon Warrior III on GBC is one of those rare remakes that actually makes the original better. The pixel art pops with color now, and the music sounds way richer on the Game Boy's little speaker. You still start by building your party from scratch—picking classes like Warriors and Mages, but now there's a Thief who's weirdly good at finding hidden stuff in walls and barrels.

What I didn't expect was how much the personality system changes things. Your characters actually grow differently based on whether they're "Timid" or "Valiant," which makes early choices matter way more. And those little mini medals? Turns into a full-blown obsession once you realize some of the best gear is locked behind collecting them.

The GBC version throws in two extra dungeons—Sky World's tough, but the Ice Cave is where things get really mean. You'll need monster medals (random drops from battles) to progress deeper, so suddenly even trash mobs feel worth fighting. The Pachisi boardgame minigames are still here too, which is great because the mobile version cut them for some reason.

Honestly, this is the definitive way to play if you don't mind the tiny screen. Just don't blame me when you lose hours to rearranging your party's personalities.
