Game Overview

I picked up Duke Nukem for the Game Boy Color back in 1999, a portable take on the series from 3D Realms. It was a time when handhelds were full of ambitious ports, and this one tried to bring Duke's action to a smaller screen. The game doesn't try to replicate the PC experience exactly; it carves its own path with a side-scrolling approach.

You control Duke through a series of levels, shooting aliens and navigating environmental hazards. The main goal is straightforward: fight through each stage, defeat bosses, and save the world. You use a variety of weapons, like pistols and shotguns, and interact with objects such as vehicles you can commandeer mid-level. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. It feels like a condensed, run-and-gun challenge that keeps you alert.
