Fire Hawk: Thexder The Second Contact is basically Thexder 2.0—same transforming robot action, but with way more firepower. You still switch between walking mech and speedy jet mode, blasting enemies with your main laser, but now you’ve got guided missiles and special weapons scattered around the levels. The coolest part? Some of those power-ups deploy a little drone that floats beside you, doubling as extra offense and a makeshift shield if you position it right.

The levels are split into bite-sized chunks now, which helps when you inevitably get wrecked by some surprise enemy pattern. And yeah, there’s even a proper boss fight waiting in the fourth sub-level—nothing crazy by today’s standards, but back then, that felt like a big deal. Graphics got a polish too, though it’s still very much a late-80s MSX/DOS vibe. At least you can restart from the beginning of any level you’ve reached, so no more losing three hours of progress to one dumb mistake.

If you liked the original but wished it had more weapons and less frustration, this one’s worth a shot.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
