I picked up Flintstones: King Rock Treasure Island for the Game Boy back in 1993, a release from Taito. It was one of those licensed platformers that felt right at home on the handheld, simple and straightforward without trying to overcomplicate things.
You control Fred Flintstone, moving screen by screen through prehistoric environments, clubbing enemies and tossing rocks. The goal is to rescue Wilma and Pebbles, collecting gems and keys to unlock new areas. The game uses minecart rides and some light puzzle elements to break up the platforming, though the minecart sections can be pretty unforgiving. It feels like a solid, no-fuss adventure that captures the spirit of the cartoon without overstaying its welcome.
