Garfield on the NES came out in 1989, developed by The Edge. It was one of those late 80s licensed games that tried to capture a cartoon's personality, not always with the most polish. You see a lot of that from that era, games built around a brand more than a solid concept.
You control Garfield, and the main goal is to clean the house by vacuuming up all the junk before time runs out. The core mechanics involve navigating from room to room, avoiding obstacles like falling vases or knocking over furniture, which actually creates more mess for you to clean. The vacuum backpack is slow and clunky to maneuver, making the time limit feel pretty tight. It feels like a strange chore simulator with a grumpy cat commentary track.
