Ghostbusters II on MS-DOS came out in 1989, published by Activision. It was part of that wave of movie tie-ins that tried to capture the fun of the films, even if the hardware of the time couldn't quite do the special effects justice. You got used to blocky graphics and simple sound effects back then, but the spirit of the thing usually came through.
You control the Ghostbusters team, moving from screen to screen across a map of New York City to hunt down supernatural threats. The main goal is to lower the city's slime levels by busting ghosts and cleaning up haunted areas. You use your proton pack to trap ghosts, which requires careful positioning and timing to avoid getting hit. You also drive the Ecto-1 between locations, managing your equipment and health along the way. The game moves at a steady pace, though some sections can feel repetitive after a while. It feels like a straightforward, sometimes clunky, but earnest attempt to let you step into those coveralls and do the job.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
