Game Overview

Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Price of Loyalty came out in 1997 as an expansion to the original, developed by New World Computing for MS-DOS. It was part of that wave of deep, turn-based strategy games that really rewarded patience and planning, back when games didn't hold your hand through every decision.

You control heroes who lead armies of fantasy creatures across a detailed map, capturing towns, gathering resources, and exploring dungeons or abandoned mines. The main goal is to outmaneuver rival factions by building a powerful economy and defeating enemy heroes in tactical, grid-based combat. Key mechanics include recruiting diverse units from upgraded structures, managing hero skills and spellbooks, and uncovering the map piece by piece. The pacing is deliberate, with a steady difficulty curve that encourages careful expansion. It feels like conducting a long, satisfying campaign where every small victory adds up.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
