Game Overview

Hokuto no Ken 6: Gekitou Denshou Ken Haou e no Michi came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by Shouei and published by Toei Animation. It arrived during a time when the SNES was full of licensed games, many of which were simple side scrollers, but this one tried to do something a little different with the Hokuto no Ken license.

You control Kenshiro, moving through stages filled with enemy thugs, and your main goal is to defeat bosses and progress the story. The game mixes side scrolling combat with some light exploration; you can find hidden items, upgrade your techniques, and even recruit allies like Rei or Toki to fight alongside you temporarily. Combat relies on landing combos and executing special Hokuto Shinken moves that make enemies explode in a very satisfying way. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, but landing a perfect combo and watching an enemy burst apart never gets old. It feels rough in places, but there's a real charm to its over the top action.
