Play Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb Online
You play as a fox accused of theft, sneaking past elk guards and bargaining with raccoons in a world where animals run medieval societies built on human ruins. Every weird item you pick up—like a broken sword or some old tech—unlocks another piece of the mystery.

Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb came out in 1994 for MS-DOS, developed by The Dreamers Guild. It was part of that wave of point-and-click adventures that really defined PC gaming in the early 90s, with its hand-drawn art and animal-centric world feeling distinct from the sci-fi or fantasy settings that were more common at the time.
You control Rif the fox, who has to clear his name after being falsely accused of stealing a sacred orb. The gameplay involves exploring screen by screen, talking to other animals, and collecting items that help you solve environmental puzzles or trade for information. There’s no combat; progress depends entirely on observation and logic, with some puzzles requiring careful timing or multiple steps. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can spike in places, but figuring things out brings a real sense of accomplishment. It feels like slowly untangling a clever, layered story with your wits as the only tool.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
