Iron Man 2 on the Nintendo DS came out in 2010, developed by Sega Studios San Francisco. It was part of that wave of movie tie-ins on the handheld, where you got a lot of action games trying to capture the feel of the films without overcomplicating things. The DS version stood out for its straightforward approach, focusing on side-scrolling combat rather than open exploration.
You control Tony Stark as Iron Man, and later James Rhodes as War Machine, flying through levels and blasting enemies with repulsors and missiles. The main goal is to stop Ivan Vanko and his army of drones, moving screen by screen and clearing out threats. Signature mechanics include switching between characters mid-mission, each with unique weapons, and using the touch screen to activate special attacks or navigate menus. The pacing is brisk, with occasional difficulty spikes when enemy fire gets dense. It feels responsive and satisfying when you weave through attacks and unleash a full arsenal on a boss.
