Game Overview

J.B. Harold Murder Club came out in 1986 for MS-DOS, developed by Riverhillsoft. It was part of that wave of early PC games where text and static images did most of the heavy lifting, a time before voice acting or complex animations were standard. You played as a detective, and the setup felt grounded, like a paperback mystery brought to life on a monochrome monitor.

You control J.B. Harold, moving from location to location by selecting options on screen. The main goal is to solve a murder by gathering clues, questioning suspects, and presenting evidence when you think you've caught someone in a lie. The game moves at a deliberate pace; you examine scenes carefully and talk to everyone multiple times, since missing one detail can stall progress entirely. It feels like untangling a knot, slow and sometimes frustrating, but deeply satisfying when the truth finally comes together.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
