Knights on wobbly ostriches smacking each other mid-air—flap hard to stay up, tilt just right to knock rivals into lava. Pure ridiculous fun, especially when you rope a friend into the feathery chaos.

Joust VGA was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a rerelease that brought the arcade hit to home computers. Developed by Williams Electronics and ported by various teams, it arrived during an era when simple, skill-based arcade ports were common on the platform. It stood out for its bizarre premise and tight controls, fitting right in among other quick-play titles of the time.
You control a knight riding a flying ostrich, using the flap button to gain height and tilting the joystick to maneuver. The goal is to clear each wave of enemy riders by colliding with them from above, which sends them tumbling and leaves behind an egg to collect before it hatches. Key mechanics include managing your flapping rhythm to avoid sinking into the lava and timing your strikes to out-position opponents. The game escalates quickly, with new enemy types and faster pacing that demand sharp reflexes. It feels both absurd and intensely competitive, especially with a second player joining in.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
