Kaiju Busters Powered came out for the Nintendo DS in 2009, developed and published by Namco Bandai Games. It was part of that era where the DS saw a lot of experimental action titles, especially ones that made use of the touch screen in creative ways. You control a human character on the ground, tasked with taking down massive creatures that are tearing through cities. The main objective is to survive each encounter and deplete the monster's health using an arsenal of weapons, from missile launchers to electrified traps. Two key mechanics involve using the touch screen to aim and fire your weapons precisely, and also setting up environmental traps that can stun or damage the kaiju when lured into position. The pacing is frantic; you are constantly dodging attacks, scrambling for ammo drops, and trying to land shots on vulnerable spots.
