Play KiKi KaiKai Online
Dodge yokai swarms as shrine maiden Sayo, flinging ofuda talismans while pixel-perfect chaos erupts—those umbrella monsters don’t play fair.

Kiki Kaikai is a 1986 arcade game by Taito, playable through MAME 0.243. It arrived during a period when top-down action games were common, but it stood out with its distinct Japanese folklore setting. You don't see many games where you play as a shrine maiden fighting yokai, and that alone gives it a memorable flavor.
You control Sayo-chan, a young shrine maiden who ventures through screen-by-screen areas to rescue seven kidnapped deities. Your main weapon is ofuda talismans, which you throw in four directions to defeat the various yokai that fill each stage. The game requires careful movement and quick aiming, as enemies swarm from all sides and some, like the hopping umbrella monsters, have tricky attack patterns. The pacing is fast and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially in later stages where enemy density increases. Playing it feels like a constant, tense dance between evasion and precise retaliation.
