King's Quest 5 came out on the NES in 1992, developed by Sierra On-Line. It was one of the few point-and-click adventures that made it to the console, arriving late in the system's life when platformers and action games still dominated. You play as King Graham, whose family is kidnapped by an evil wizard, so you set out across deserts, forests, and strange villages to find them.

You control Graham screen by screen, picking up items like a pie or a honeycomb, and using them to solve environmental puzzles. The main goal is to rescue your family, which involves exploring dungeons, avoiding creatures like yetis or snakes, and occasionally engaging in simple combat. The pacing is slow; you backtrack often, and missing one small object can halt progress for hours. It feels like a patient, sometimes frustrating journey where every discovery matters.
