Last Action Hero on the NES came out in 1993, published by Sony Imagesoft. It was one of those many licensed games from the era that tried to capture a blockbuster movie on the limited hardware. You play as Arnold Schwarzenegger's character, Jack Slater, navigating a world where movie characters come to life.
You control Jack through side scrolling levels, punching and kicking your way through waves of enemies. The main goal is to stop the villain, Benedict, from escaping into the real world. You break down doors to reveal items or hidden paths, and you collect golden tickets to unlock new areas. The pacing is relentless, with enemies constantly respawning, and the difficulty can be unforgiving. It feels like a chaotic scramble from start to finish.
