Legend of Faerghail came out in 1990 for MS-DOS, developed by reLINE Software. It was one of those early CRPGs that didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but offered a solid, no-frills dungeon crawl for players who were used to parsing pixelated corridors and managing inventories with keyboard commands.
You control a party of four adventurers, each with distinct classes and skills, delving into multi-level dungeons filled with monsters and traps. The main goal is to explore these labyrinths screen by screen, fighting enemies in real-time combat where positioning and weapon choice actually affect your survival. You need to manage spells, which drain mana quickly, and keep your party fed and rested to avoid penalties. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty is unforgiving; a single ambush or trap can wipe out your party if you're careless. It feels like a tense, methodical grind where every bit of progress is earned through caution and preparation.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
