Game Overview

LEGO Stunt Rally on Game Boy Color is a stripped-down but still fun take on the PC original. You’re racing to dethrone Mr. X, the island’s top stunt driver, but first you’ve gotta beat four other racers across 20 tracks—city streets, deserts, jungles, icy roads, all that good stuff. Win races to unlock more cars (no customizing them here, though) and keep moving forward.

The controls are dead simple: hold A to go, tap left or right to switch lanes. Corners handle themselves, so the real challenge is nailing your speed—too fast and you’ll skid off, too slow and you’ll get left behind. Some tracks throw blocked lanes at you, forcing quick switches, and there are a few ramps to catch air (though none of the wild loops or smoke jumps from the PC version).

Between races, you can mess around with a surprisingly decent track editor. Winning championships unlocks new pieces, and the game saves your creations. It’s not as deep as the PC version, but for a handheld racer, it’s got just enough to keep you busy.
