Game Overview

I first played Lemmings on the Sega Genesis back in 1992, a game developed by DMA Design. It was a different kind of puzzle experience for the platform, which was mostly known for action and platformers at the time. The game didn't rely on reflexes or combat; instead, it demanded careful planning and a cool head under pressure.

You don't control the lemmings directly, but assign jobs to them as they march relentlessly forward. The goal is to guide a certain number to the exit on each screen, using skills like digging, building stairs, or blocking paths to redirect the crowd. The pacing is methodical, almost tense, as you try to manage the stream of creatures before they walk into spikes or off a cliff. It feels like conducting a chaotic, sometimes tragic, orchestra where every decision matters.
