Lethal Weapon came out in 1992 for MS-DOS as part of the Ocean Software lineup, a time when movie tie-ins were common and often rough around the edges. You play as either Riggs or Murtaugh, moving through a side-scrolling interpretation of the films' action set pieces. It fits right in with other early '90s platformers that tried to capture blockbuster energy with limited technology.
You control your chosen cop through urban environments, shooting enemies with a limited supply of bullets and jumping across platforms and over obstacles. The main goal is to survive each stage, rescuing hostages and taking down key targets to progress. Signature mechanics include picking up extra ammo and health packs, engaging in close-quarters fights when out of bullets, and navigating occasional driving sections. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly due to stiff controls and aggressive enemy placement. Playing it feels like wrestling with a stubborn but earnest tribute to the films' chaotic charm.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
