Game Overview

I remember picking up The Lion King: Simba's Mighty Adventure on Game Boy Color back in 2000. Activision published it, and it was one of those licensed platformers that felt pretty standard for the era. It didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it had a certain charm, especially if you were a fan of the movie. The graphics were colorful for the hardware, and it captured the look of the characters well enough.

You control Simba through a series of side scrolling levels, moving screen by screen, jumping on platforms and swiping at enemies with your claws. The main goal is to progress through each stage, defeating hyenas and other threats, while occasionally hunting for collectibles like bugs or hidden items. The pacing is straightforward, though some jumps require timing, and the hit detection can feel a bit loose. It's not overly difficult, but it has moments that might take a few tries. Playing it feels like a simple, sometimes clunky, but earnest attempt to bring the Pride Lands into your hands.
