Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour is exactly what you'd expect from a Mario sports game—goofy, polished, and weirdly addictive. You start off picking your character (I always go for Peach’s floaty swing), and suddenly you're smacking balls across courses that flip between looking like real golf greens and something out of a Mushroom Kingdom fever dream. Sand traps? Sure, but some have Chain Chomps lurking in them. Need a shortcut? There’s probably a warp pipe for that.

The controls feel surprisingly tight for a GameCube golf game—there’s a sweet spot between button timing and power that makes even bad shots feel like your fault. And yeah, it’s fun solo, but the real chaos starts when you cram four people onto a couch for tournament mode. Nothing like watching Wario’s terrible backswing cost him the match while Luigi quietly dominates. It’s golf, but with banana peels and ego bruises.
