You control Mario through a series of short, obstacle-filled stages, but the real hook is how the game uses your photos. You snap pictures with the Game Boy Camera, transfer them to the N64, and then watch as the game warps them into enemies, platforms, and scenery. Your main goal is simply to reach the end of each stage, but you're constantly distracted by seeing a distorted version of your friend's face staring back as a Blooper or your backyard fence turned into a series of floating blocks. The platforming itself is intentionally a bit clumsy and straightforward, which keeps the focus on the bizarre visual surprises.
