Play Mario & Sonic At Beijing Olympics (MaxG) (J) Online

Mario and Sonic face off in ridiculous Olympic events—hammer throws go sideways, pole vaulting breaks physics, and Bowser flailing in the pool never gets old. The touchscreen archery’s janky, but racing through that Dream Event chaos with a friend? Perfect.

Game Overview

Mario & Sonic at the Beijing Olympics on DS is exactly as chaotic as it sounds—imagine Mario doing the hammer throw while Sonic somehow pole vaults at 300mph. The events are a mix of button-mashing minigames and touchscreen challenges, and yeah, the controls take a second to get used to (good luck nailing the archery).

What’s fun is how weirdly competitive it gets, especially if you’ve got a friend nearby for multiplayer. The Dream Race event is pure nonsense in the best way—Mario Kart meets Sonic speed with hurdles. Graphics are bright and cartoony, though some events feel a bit clunky compared to others. Still, it’s hard to stay mad when Bowser’s failing miserably at synchronized swimming.

Definitely one of those games where half the appeal is watching your favorite characters absolutely fumble their way through sports they have no business attempting.
