Master of Magic came out in 1994 for MS-DOS, developed by Simtex and published by MicroProse. It was part of that wave of deep, complex strategy games that really pushed what you could do on a home computer, demanding a lot from the player but rewarding the time you put into it.
You control a wizard attempting to conquer two linked worlds, building cities, raising armies, and researching spells across a detailed strategic map. The game blends 4X empire management with tactical combat and a deep magic system, letting you customize your approach through spellbooks and summoned creatures. It moves at a deliberate pace, and the AI can be quite aggressive, making every expansion a careful calculation. The feeling of finally casting a world-altering spell after dozens of turns of research is deeply satisfying.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
