Play Mega Man X on Msdos Online
Blast through Mavericks with X’s arm cannon in this janky DOS port—it’s got the same killer bosses and power-ups, just with stiff controls and crunchy PC speaker tunes. A weird little time capsule for retro diehards.

Mega Man X landed on MS-DOS in 1995, courtesy of Capcom, during a time when PC ports of console games often felt like rough translations. It was part of that wave of classic games trying to find a home on the platform, and it arrived with all the core ingredients intact, even if the presentation sometimes stumbled.
You control X, an advanced reploid, as he battles through stages to defeat eight Maverick bosses. The main objective is to stop Sigma’s rebellion, which you do by navigating side-scrolling levels, jumping across platforms, and shooting enemies with your arm cannon. Signature mechanics include defeating bosses to gain their weapons, which are then useful against other bosses, and collecting armor upgrades hidden in stages to enhance your mobility and defense. The pacing is fast and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially with the port’s sometimes uncooperative controls. It feels like a determined, if occasionally clumsy, effort to bring console action to the PC.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
