MegaMan Star Force: Dragon came out on the Nintendo DS in 2007, developed by Capcom. It was part of that wave of DS games that really leaned into the dual screens, using the bottom for touch controls and the top for the main action view. This one continued the tradition of the Battle Network series but shifted things into a more sci-fi, space oriented setting.

You play as Geo Stelar, a kid who bonds with an alien wave being to become MegaMan. The game splits between exploring the real world and diving into the wave world, a digital space full of viruses and network obstacles. Combat happens on a three by five grid; you dodge enemy attacks in real time while selecting battle cards from a custom folder to fire back. The signature mechanic is the BrotherBand system, where linking with friends (or NPCs) grants you new abilities and support in battle. The pacing is brisk, with random encounters keeping you alert, and some boss fights demand quick reflexes and good card management. It feels like a puzzle wrapped in an action game, where every battle is a test of your timing and deck building.
