MegaMan Star Force: Dragon came out on the Nintendo DS in 2006, developed and published by Capcom. It was part of that early wave of DS titles that really leaned into the dual screens, using the bottom for touch controls and the top for the main action view. You control Geo Stelar, a boy who merges with an alien wave being to become MegaMan, and your main goal is to stop an invasion from the FM-ian aliens. The core gameplay splits between exploring the real world from a third-person perspective and diving into the Wave World to engage in combat on a 3x5 grid. Battles use a card-based system where you select a hand of Battle Cards to unleash attacks, and the signature Dragon transformation lets you temporarily break the enemy's panel field for massive damage. The pacing is brisk, with frequent random encounters keeping you on your toes, and the difficulty can spike during boss fights. It feels satisfying to finally chain together a perfect combo and watch a tough opponent shatter.
