You control Zero, a Reploid fighting to protect the last human settlement from a new threat. The main objective involves moving through side scrolling stages, defeating bosses, and uncovering a conspiracy. Signature mechanics include the new Recoil Rod, which lets you vault off enemy shots or environmental hazards, and the EX Skill system, where defeating certain bosses under specific conditions grants you their signature attacks. You also manage Cyber-Elves, which provide permanent or temporary stat boosts and abilities. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is significant, demanding precise jumps and quick weapon swaps. It feels sharp and responsive, with every dash and slash carrying weight.
