Ever wanted to see Kanto from the other side of the Poké Ball? Meowth’s Adventure is a Game Boy ROM hack that lets you do exactly that—you’re not some kid with a starter Pokémon, you are the Pokémon. Specifically, Meowth, complete with his sassy attitude and questionable life choices.

It’s weirdly satisfying sneaking past trainers, solving little puzzles with your tiny paws, and occasionally swiping coins like the little gremlin you are. The overworld feels familiar, but everything’s just slightly off—like seeing your hometown after moving away for years. Some NPCs actually recognize you as a wild Meowth, which leads to some hilarious (and sometimes tense) encounters.

No gyms, no badges—just you, your wits, and the occasional need to outrun an overzealous Pikachu. If you’ve ever wondered what Pokémon would look like as a stealthy, slightly chaotic adventure, this is it. Also, yes, Pay Day is way more satisfying when you’re the one using it.
