Game Overview

Metal Gear on MS-DOS is this weird, tense little stealth game where you play as Solid Snake—basically a one-man infiltration squad sneaking through enemy bases. At first, you don’t even have a gun, so you’re just punching guards in the back of the head and praying no one notices. The second someone spots you, an exclamation mark pops up over their head, and suddenly you’re scrambling to either bolt to the next screen or fight your way out if reinforcements show up.

It’s all about keycards, hostages, and radio chatter—you’ll rescue prisoners to boost your rank (which gives you more health and inventory space), but if one dies, you get demoted. The weapons feel scarce but satisfying when you finally get them—like the M79 grenade launcher that can blow open weak walls. And the bosses? They just show up out of nowhere to wreck your day.

Honestly, the radio system is half the game—you’ve got to remember frequencies for different allies who give you intel, but only if you’re in the right room. Messy, janky, but weirdly immersive for something this old.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
