Game Overview

Michael Andretti's World GP is one of those NES racers that actually makes you think about driving. You pick from four different cars (I always went with the red one—no real reason, just vibes), and then you're off to tracks in 16 countries, from Monaco's tight corners to Australia's wide-open straights. The split-screen 2-player mode gets chaotic fast, especially when you're both fighting for the same apex.

What surprised me was the manual shifting—most NES racers just have you hold down the gas, but here you actually have to time your gear changes. Andretti pops up before each race with tips, which is cool until you realize he's basically just saying "don't crash" in different ways. Still, seeing real F-1 drivers' names sprinkled in gives it that extra bit of 90s authenticity.
