Game Overview

Midway Campaign was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though I don't recall the original developer or publisher offhand. It came out during a time when strategy games were often text-heavy or relied on simple graphics, focusing more on mechanics than visual flair. This one puts you in command of the US fleet during the pivotal Battle of Midway, and it feels very much of its era, straightforward and unadorned.

You control American naval forces, moving carriers, cruisers, and aircraft across a grid representing the Pacific. Your main objective is to locate and sink the Japanese fleet while protecting your own carriers from air attack. The game uses turn based movement, hidden enemy positions that require careful scouting, and limited fuel and ammunition for your planes. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense, as each turn could reveal an enemy strike group or leave you vulnerable. It feels like a high stakes game of chess played out with historical stakes.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
