Game Overview

Murder in the Museum was released as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though I don't recall the developer or publisher offhand. It's one of those early '90s point-and-click adventures that really leaned into the moody, pixelated aesthetic of the era. You're not saving the world or fighting monsters; it's just you, a dark museum, and a whole lot of unanswered questions.

You play as a detective, clicking your way through static screens to examine objects and talk to a handful of suspicious characters. The goal is to solve the murder by gathering evidence, finding the murder weapon, and eventually accusing the right person. Key mechanics include combining items in your inventory and choosing dialogue options that can either reveal new leads or shut down conversations entirely. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, and missing one small detail can leave you completely stuck. It feels like untangling a knot in the dark, frustrating but deeply satisfying when things finally click.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
