Game Overview

Murder on the Atlantic was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, released in the early '90s when point-and-click adventures were gaining traction. The game was developed by a smaller studio whose name escapes me now, but it captured the mood of classic detective stories without the budget of a Sierra or LucasArts title. It felt like a modest but earnest attempt to bring Agatha Christie-style intrigue to the computer screen, relying on atmosphere and player curiosity more than flashy production.

You play as a detective tasked with solving a killing aboard a luxury liner in the 1930s. The gameplay involves moving screen by screen through the ship's detailed environments, from opulent ballrooms to cramped crew quarters. You collect items, interview passengers with branching dialogue options, and combine clues in your inventory to form theories. The pacing is deliberate; rushing leads to dead ends, and the difficulty comes from parsing lies and half-truths rather than action sequences. Playing it feels like untangling a knot of human motives, one careful conversation at a time.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
