Game Overview

If you're into Naruto and still rocking a DS, this one's a solid pick. You start off picking your favorite character—Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, or a bunch of others—and jump straight into side-scrolling ninja brawls. The controls are simple but satisfying: tap the screen for jutsu, swipe for combos, and dodge like crazy when someone throws a kunai your way.

What I like is how each character actually feels different. Naruto’s Rasengan is stupidly fun to pull off, but Sakura’s quicker moves make her way better for hit-and-run fights. The AI isn’t pushover-level either—some of the later fights had me retrying way more than I’d like to admit. And yeah, it’s in Japanese, but the menus aren’t too hard to figure out if you’ve played a fighting game before.

It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but for a handheld Naruto fix, it gets the job done. Just don’t expect a story mode with subtitles.
