Play Naruto Shippuuden - Shinobi Retsuden III (JP)(BAHAMUT) Online

Swiping the touchscreen to fire off jutsu while hammering combos feels surprisingly smooth once you get the rhythm down—local versus matches turn into total ninja brawls. Sasuke’s Chidori actually lands with some weight here.

Game Overview

Naruto Shippuuden - Shinobi Retsuden III is one of those DS games that actually makes decent use of the touchscreen—you’ll be swiping to pull off jutsu while still mashing buttons for combos. It’s a little chaotic at first, but once you get the hang of chaining moves together, fights start feeling surprisingly fluid for a handheld brawler.

The roster’s packed with Shippuuden-era characters, and each one plays differently enough that messing around with their unique abilities is half the fun. (Sasuke’s Chidori feels way more satisfying here than in some of the console games, honestly.) Story mode’s your standard retelling of arcs from the anime, but the versus battles are where this really shines—local multiplayer matches get stupidly intense.

Just don’t expect a deep RPG or anything. It’s straight-up fighting with some light mission objectives sprinkled in. If you ever wanted to recreate Naruto vs. Pain on the bus ride home, this’ll do the trick.
