You control the ninja Ryu Hayabusa, moving through side-scrolling stages to uncover a conspiracy. Your main goal is to fight through waves of soldiers and creatures, using your sword and limited special weapons like the fire wheel. The game is known for its screen-by-screen progression, where enemies spawn aggressively, and its high difficulty, partly due to limited continues in the Japanese release. Playing it feels like a constant test of reflexes and memory, where every jump and slash has to be precise to survive.
