Nitro Racers came out in 1997 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by 3DO Studio. It was a late entry for DOS racers, arriving when many players were already moving to Windows and more advanced 3D titles, but it had its own distinct style. The game offered a straightforward arcade racing experience without the simulation depth of some contemporaries.

You control a low-polygon race car from a behind-the-vehicle perspective, competing on closed circuits against computer opponents. The main objective is to finish first in a series of races, earning prize money to upgrade your car's engine, tires, and nitro boost. Signature mechanics include a limited-use nitro button for short bursts of extreme speed, and aggressive opponent AI that will actively try to sideswipe or block you. The pacing is fast and the difficulty can feel unforgiving, especially on later tracks where mistakes are costly. It feels like a constant battle for position, where every corner and straightaway demands your full attention.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
