Game Overview

Pitfall - Beyond the Jungle on Game Boy Color is one of those late '90s platformers that feels like a throwback even for its time. You're still swinging on vines and dodging traps like the classic Pitfall games, but with a few extra moves—rolling under low gaps, climbing walls, that kind of thing. The levels are short but packed with stuff to jump over or fall into (obviously).

Weirdly, it shares the same name as the PlayStation 3D game, but this one’s all pixelated charm. The jungle sprites are surprisingly detailed for a GBC title, though some of the traps blend into the background a little too well—I lost a few lives just not seeing pits in time. Still, it’s got that "just one more try" energy when you barely miss a jump.

Not the deepest platformer, but solid for quick bursts of vine-swinging nostalgia.
