Game Overview

Plasma Ball (Japan) is one of those weird little NES games that somehow makes bouncing a glowing orb around feel ridiculously intense. You're basically piloting this electric ball through these tight, maze-like courses while dodging obstacles that come out of nowhere—it's like someone took pinball and gave it a shot of adrenaline.

The first time I played, I got wrecked immediately because I didn't realize how slippery the controls are. But once you get the hang of it, there's something weirdly satisfying about threading the ball through narrow gaps while the screen flashes neon colors at you. The music's all synthy and chaotic too, like an arcade cabinet from 1987 decided to have a panic attack.

It starts simple, but by level 3, you'll be sweating. The stages get faster, the obstacles get meaner, and before long, you're just mashing buttons hoping your orb survives another two seconds. If you're into obscure retro games that punish you in the best way possible, this one's a trip.
