Game Overview

Poi Poi Ninja World is one of those weird little SNES games that makes you go, "Wait, why haven’t I heard of this before?" You play as a tiny ninja who doesn’t slash or sneak—instead, you grab enemies and hurl them at each other like living projectiles. It’s chaotic in the best way, like if someone took the physics of Super Mario Bros. and mashed it up with the puzzle-solving of Bomberman.

The art style is bright and goofy, with these exaggerated animations that make every throw feel satisfying. Some stages have you ricocheting bad guys off walls to hit switches, while others turn into frantic brawls where you’re juggling three enemies at once. It’s got that classic Japanese quirkiness—expect random sumo wrestlers and giant frogs popping up mid-level.

Originally Japan-only, it’s definitely a cult favorite for a reason. Not too hard to pick up, but some of those later puzzles will test your timing. If you’re into retro games that do something genuinely different, this one’s a blast.
