You control a young trainer traveling through the region of Sienar, catching Pokemon, battling gym leaders, and slowly uncovering a conspiracy involving a shadowy organization. The game introduces new type combinations and regional variants, along with a day and night cycle that affects which Pokemon appear in the wild. Exploration is screen by screen, with hidden items and optional areas rewarding thorough players. The pacing is deliberate, and some boss fights demand careful team building. It feels like rediscovering an old favorite, but with enough surprises to keep you guessing.
