Game Overview

Pokémon Prism is one of those rare ROM hacks that actually feels like a proper sequel to the old Game Boy Color games. It starts off familiar—you pick your starter (I went with the fire-type Cub, no regrets), but then things quickly get weird in the best way. The new region’s got this whole crystal theme, and some Pokémon even evolve differently depending on where you train them. Weirdly addictive.

The music’s still that classic chiptune stuff, but remixed just enough to feel new. And yeah, you’ll run into wild Pokémon you’ve never seen before—some fan-made, some clever twists on old favorites. The level curve’s a bit brutal in spots (bring repels for the caves, seriously), but that’s part of the charm. Feels like stumbling onto a lost Pokémon game from an alternate universe.

If you’ve ever wondered what Gold & Silver could’ve been with a little more ambition, this is it.
